The logo of“I Giardini del Caramante”has its own history:Much like everything else in this ambitious project, this too has matured over time, thanks in large part to the observation of nature and its surroundings.

Many people like it, others ask us curiously where we got it from and if it has any special meaning.

Well, the time has come to tell his story.

The most experienced symbologists have probably recognised which symbol the logo is derived from. In fact, it all starts with atimeless symbol, present in the most disparate cultures across the globe.

We're talking about the “Flower of Life”, a fascinating geometric shape that encloses a smaller shape within it, the “Seed of Life”..

Several years ago, I was intrigued by this symbol and decided to look into it.

Thus I discovered the first noteworthy characteristic, namely that this symbolit is present in different cultures in very distant places both in space and time:

from ancient Egypt (in the temple of Osiris at Abydos) to Imperial China (in the Forbidden City), in the palace of Ashurbanipal of ancient Assyria or the Golden Temple in Amistar in India, but also in Turkey, Ireland, Mexico, Lebanon, and many other countries.

In Italy, Leonardo da Vinci studied and described it in his manuscripts, but in general the symbol is richly represented throughout the peninsula.

Given how much symbolism is extraordinarily contained within this symbol, I certainly don't intend to go into detail about it and will leave it to the more curious to investigate further.

I will just say that, in addition to the very interesting geometric implications, the Flower of Life is linked to creation and the created in general: a sort of primordial matrix from which everything is generated and, not by chance, present and embedded in the testimonies and traditions of many cultures from time immemorial, including our own, as we shall see.

Returning to us, in autumn 2023 I was starting to take steps to design the various areas, particularly the orange grove, through which the stream “ flows.“Caramante”which gives our Glamping its name, and I discovered that this area hid this very symbol!

Each orange tree, in fact, was 5 metres from the one next to it and each row was offset by exactly 2.5 metres, creating a matrix in which one can recognise the symbol of the Flower and Seed of Life (See figure above). This coincidence is truly interesting, confirming the importance of this symbol and its rootedness, whether conscious or not, in the traditions and good practices of Calabrian growers.

What better symbol to represent a nascent project founded on respect for nature and its harmony than the “Seed of Life”!?

There would still be more to tell, for example about the why of its colours, the why one part is made of lines and not circles... but we would be happy to talk about this with the more curious, perhaps in person, perhaps relaxed on a hammock in the ancient olive grove or, even better, by trekking through the orange grove itself, where you can see and touch the perfect geometries of the symbol of “I Giardini del Caramante”.
